This fun and cute Halloween Ghost Cake recipe is a perfect centerpiece for this years festivities. This cake consists of a layer of fudge brownie, chocolate ganache and marshmallow ghosts. A tasty and decadent Halloween dessert.
Nothing is more frightening than my constant chocolate craving, but these little ghosts come to a close second, don’t you think? As a former wedding and event planner, cake and cupcakes have never really excited me, especially since I called it dinner on far too many occasions.
This Halloween dessert is like a fudge brownie, loaded with ganache and marshmallow cream, it’s like taking a bite into the best hot chocolate you’ve ever had {and I’ve had a cup or two}!
Adalyn is really into Halloween this year and I’m taking advantage of this short window by celebrating every minute of it. I plan to recreate this Halloween dessert that I made last year for Better Homes and Gardens.
We love all things Halloween from these adorable Halloween Hot Chocolate Bombs to a haunting Halloween Porch Decorations, Halloween Decorations and more!

Make Your Own Marshmallow Ghosts for Halloween Dessert
These little spooky marshmallow ghosts are so easy to make! The marshmallow is the perfect texture for them and I much prefer them to iced ones that I often see. I love how the edges of them brown slightly in the oven, they look far more tasty than just a huge blob of sugar icing!
Easy Fudge Cake With Ganache
We have to talk about how easy this ghost cake is to put together! I’m a big fan of a box cake mix, it helps you to free up some time in your day and they are so easy to elevate too. The fudge cake mix is topped with a chocolate ganache for a grown up dessert that the kids will love too.
A Fun Halloween Ghost Cake Idea
We are big fans of Halloween around here, and this cake for sure makes an amazing centerpiece to your treats table! It’s super fun for the kids, but it’s not overly sweet for the grow ups. It’s such an easy way to add a bit of spookiness to your party with not too much effort.
Don’t worry about it being too perfect either. My ghosts are swaying in the wind. Rather than stressing about imperfections, embrace them! I’m a food lover, not a food stylist.
Tips
- Use your favorite boxed fudge cake mix.
- Save the inserts that come with your cake pans. I use them as a stencil to cut parchment paper, then grease your pan & insert the parchment paper. It gives you a clean lift to the cake platter – every time!
- Bake the cake in a pre heated oven for the best results.
- Don’t have a double boiler? Create one! Fill your larger pot with water just below where a smaller pot will fit & boil!
