Why You’ll Love It
Ingredients and Substititions
See printable recipe card for complete ingredients and instructions.
- Cream Cheese – Full fat is always the best flavor, but you can use your favorite type of cream cheese. Learn how to soften cream cheese here!
- Scallions – Also called green onions, these are long, slender alliums that are available in the produce section of your grocery store. A little milder than a traditional onion, they also have the prettiest green color! You can sub with chives, if you don’t have any scallions on hand.
Variations
- Not a fan of cream cheese? Try with ricotta instead – check out our whipped ricotta.
- Sub with another fresh green herb, like rosemary, thyme, or basil. Check out our garlic and herb cream cheese for more inspiration!
- Add 1/4 teaspoon of seasonings like garlic powder or onion powder.
- Add cracks of sea salt and pepper for an added layer of texture and flavor!
How to Make
- In a mixer, blender or food processor, whip cream cheese until smooth.
- Chop scallions.
- Add chopped scallions, and whip for another minute until complete.
Tips
- Scallions – Substitute with dried green onions if you prefer.
- Mix By Hand – If you don’t have access to a mixer or food processor, use a tub of whipped cream cheese. Because it’s softer and has more air already, it will be significantly easier to mix.
Serving Suggestions
- Use it as a low carb dip – serve with carrot sticks, celery, and sliced peppers.
- Add to a Burger bar
- Make stuffed dates with bacon or prosciutto.
- Stuffed mushrooms
- Top crostini for a simple appetizer!
- Blend it into mashed potatoes or twice baked potatoes
- Add a little to your deviled eggs
How to Store
- Room Temperature – Leave this scallion cream cheese out for up to two hours safely while serving.
- Refrigerate – Store in an airtight container up to a week.
- Freezer – This cream cheese can be frozen for up to three months, but it won’t be as creamy when it defrosts, so we don’t recommend it.
