I love all things eggnog this time of year. It immediately gives you that warm, cozy feeling and is so full of flavor! In fact, I love to blend it into all my favorite things… like Eggnog Ice Cream and these Gooey Butter Eggnog Cookies.

So why not Whipped Cream, too?

It’s quick and easy to whip up and will make everyone think you’re Martha Stewart! Once you’ve made homemade whipped cream, you’ll never go back to the store bought whipped cream or cool whip.

  • Drinks or Desserts – Add it to your favorite winter cocktails, hot chocolate, pies and so much more!
  • Keeps Well – This is delicious to make ahead for entertaining, or you can freeze to enjoy throughout the holiday season.

Ingredients and Substitutions

Like most of my recipes, it’s made with just a few simple ingredients and of course, the main star.

  • Heavy Cream – Heavy cream, also known as whipping cream, gives it body. Learn about the best Heavy Whipping Cream Substitutes here.
  • Eggnog – The star of the show. You can use homemade or store-bought.
  • Powdered Sugar – Also known as confectioner’s sugar. You can adjust to increase the thickness of your whipped cream. Learn how to make powdered sugar if you don’t have any on hand!
  • Nutmeg – The flavor synonymous with eggnog!

Variations

There are so many ways to make this eggnog whipped cream even more fun! The rum is probably the best way add a little holiday cheer to your festivities!

  • Garnish with nutmeg
  • Add a tablespoon of rum
  • Increase to a teaspoon of nutmeg

Tips

  • Use very cold heavy whipping cream.
  • Freeze your mixing bowl and mixer attachments to add an extra chilled element.
  • Start by slowly whisking the cream.
  • Don’t over-whip!
  • Make up to four hours ahead to maintain volume. You can refrigerate homemade whipped cream for up to 24 hours ahead of time, but it may begin to separate so I always prefer to wait.
  • Freeze leftovers! It works surprisingly well.
